It wasn't so long ago that it was impossible to purchase any books of real historical and factual value about ABBA. The group's image as a "70s glam disco bubblegrum group" seemingly prevented anything remotely worthwhile being added to the bookshops of the world.
Carl Magnus Palm was the first to change this situation with his legendary "ABBA The Complete Recording Sessions". Other authors continued with dumbed-down potted versions of the supposed "ABBA story" but - over the last few years - things have improved considerably. You can now visit bookshops and occasionally find something worthwhile to read about ABBA.
Or at least you can order something worthwhile on line.
A new book by self-publishers Craig Halstead and Chris Cadman definitely falls into the worthwhile category. It comprises an alphabetical examination of ABBA's songs through chart positions and interesting trivia.
The authors have utilised some of the more reputable ABBA websites to do their research and the finsihed product is an interesting read for hardcore ABBA fans and chart afficiados around the world.
ABBA connections, solo work and even Björn & Benny's theatrical works are covered by the book. It is a book aimed primarily at those fans who want to learn facts and figures - it isn't a "picture book" as such. The format of the book is very much black & white text-based with the occasional scan being included - usually of rarer single covers and original sheet music covers.
The book has been released for sale by download in electronic form but is also available in a printed version. Despite the convenience of e-books, ABBAMAIL strongly recommends purchasing the printed version.
We're happy to recommend this book to ABBA fans because it is the kind of book you'll be able to pull out in ten years time when you want to look up facts and figures.
