ARRIVAL IN SYDNEY - March 2004

The fabulous and best ABBA tribute group, ARRIVAL, visited Sydney in March 2004 for two special shows. ABBAMAIL was there for two shows that can only be described as magical. It was like being back at ABBA's Australian concerts in 1977. Thank you Vicky, Anna, Henrik, Rolf and everyone else in the group for coming to Australia and bringing ABBA back to life for two nights. And a special thanks to Cliff Atkinson, the tour promoter, for his hard work, money and passion in bringing ARRIVAL to Sydney.

TIGER

The show starts the same way as ABBA's 1977 concert tour - the sound of a helicopter landing and the girls running on stage for "Tiger"

Vicky/Frida in action

The sensational Vicky, ARRIVAL's leader, in action as Frida during "Tiger"

Anna and Vicky

Backing singers

The three backing singers - just another touch that makes ARRIVAL superior

The real thing

At times during the show, ARRIVAL look like the real ABBA in concert in 1977. It can be quite overwhelming for fans who were at the original concerts.

Dancing Queens!

The crowds responded enthusiastically to the band's request for everyone to get up and dance during the show.

S.E.X.Y.

ARRIVAL's Björn, Henrik, is a major spunk. He certainly turned a few heads in his tighter than tight 1977 tour costume!

Realism

It is the realism of the show - including the sensational replica costumes - that make an ARRIVAL concert so extraordinary for real ABBA fans.

Power voices!

Anna and Vicky have the most incredibly powerful voices. They really bring justice to ABBA's original sound.

Anna & Vicky

Anna & Vicky are so genuine and enthusiastic on stage that you can't help but be swept up in the magic they create.

I Wonder

Vicky does a beyond-belief version of "I Wonder" during the mini-musical. Her intonation is just so Frida performing the number live in 1977.

Like a doll...

Marionette performed during the mini-musical. Check the costumes and the choreography - WOW!

ARRIVAL or ABBA?

During "Marionette" it all becomes a bit too much for ABBA fans who attended the 1977 Australian concerts - the wigs, the choreography, the sound...you are transported back to the night you saw ABBA.

And all of a sudden, you see her...

Yes, even a narrator in full costume for the mini-musical. Martin - Vicky's brother and ARRIVAL backing vocalist - becomes Frances Matthews and gives the original narration from the 77 concerts!

Bass & Backing

The fabulous and funky Joseph plays the bass. Great musician and great eye-candy!

Just a silly old clown

Does this pose remind you of anything?

When they all lined up like this at the end of the show we were all like "oh my god!". Had us rushing home and grabbing our copies of ABBA - The Movie!

ARRIVAL take a bow

ARRIVAL take a bow at the end of the show. For a couple of hours they bring back the experience of seeing ABBA live in concert. No-one else can do this.

ARRIVAL & fans

The gang from ABBAMAIL stayed around after the show to meet the members of the band, ask questions and to say thank you.
