| Hi, well can you provide a copy of the video 'ABBA The Movie'. I've tried to hire it at shops, I've tried to find it at second hand record shops etc, but so far no luck. Thanks, Yllenna | | ABBA - The Movie' is unfortunately currently unavailable to buy on video and has never been released in Australia. Universal has plans to re-release it on DVD and possibly VHS, possibly in 2002, but there’s nothing concrete as yet. ‘ABBA – The Movie’ screened on Channel 9 in Australia on Saturday 2 June, which is the first time it’s been seen on Australian television in 21 years! |

| Can you give me the song ‘Watch Out’ on mp3? Thank you, Didier Bastleer | | There’s many websites with MP3s and other music formats of ABBA’s songs on the Internet – you’ll find them listed in the “links” section of www.abbaworld.net. However, ‘Watch Out’ is freely available on the CD ‘Waterloo’, and personally, I don’t condone the sharing of MP3s of songs readily available. |

| When will ABBA be doing a live concert in the United States? Terri Greico | | Seeing as ABBA stopped working together at the end of 1982, and have rejected all offers for a public reunion in the years since, the short answer is “never”. However, the four members of the group have occasionally sung together in the ensuing years at private gatherings, most recently at Görel Hanser’s 50th birthday party in June 1999. But a public reunion, especially a concert tour, is increasingly unlikely. |

| Is there anyplace to buy ABBA's VOCAL ARRANGEMENTS? I don't mean the stuff sold by music publishing companies (chords, words, single melody line). I'm after the actual 4 parts sung by the group. I have taken some from their recordings, but I'm not sure all of it is right. I'm sure this is copyrighted material, but who has the copyright? Is it for sale? Any info would be welcome. Thank you. Regards, Pat Fitzpatrick | | Unfortunately, there’s no such thing available. The many music books on sale usually have, as you say, the melody lines, bass chords and guitar tabs only. Even the “score” book for the musical ‘Mamma Mia!’ used the same basic charts that had been published in other music books. The copyright for ABBA’s songs is held by Union Songs, which is owned by Universal Music. |

| I just want to know how ABBA split and what is the reason for that? Chinthu Philip | | There’s no single reason that ABBA “split”. They stopped working together at the end of 1982, after a couple of troublesome years for the group. During those last years Benny and Frida divorced, and inspiration within the group concept seemed to fade, as can be heard on 'The Visitors’ album and the tracks recorded in 1982. The girls went on to record solo albums while the boys wrote the musical ‘Chess’ with English lyricist Tim Rice. During the first half of the 80s all members said in interviews that the group would like to record another album once the ‘Chess’ project was completed, but as the years went by the opportunity or inspiration never presented itself The group members have sung together at private parties for friends several times since 1982, but that’s the extent of any “reunion” that we’re ever likely to see. |

| I’m a great fan to this group, I want to know if there is a DVD of ABBA, if really exist it, I would like obtain it, please tell me about that. Well, thanks and see you! ABBA fan from Mexico | | There’s been no international DVD releases as yet, though Universal has plans to release the compilation ‘ABBA GOLD’ and ‘ABBA – The Movie’ within the next couple of years. Some Asian countries have “unofficially released" ABBA on DVD and VCD, including the compilations ‘ABBA Gold’ and ‘More ABBA Gold’ and the documentary ‘The Winner Takes It All – The ABBA Story’. Some on-line stores based in Japan have ABBA DVDs listed for sale, but be warned – they’re not cheap! Check the links section of www.abbaworld.net. |

| Could you let me know if there is an ABBA fan club in England/UK. If there is do you know the e-mail address or website address. Thank you, Colin Moon | | The Official International Agnetha, Benny, Björn, Frida Fan Club based in The Netherlands accepts members from all over the world. Their website is http://abba.muziek.net/. There is also the UK-based ABBA News Service (http://www.abbanews.com/) but by all reports this appears to be all but defunct. |

I'd really like to download tracks from the now infamous 'Opus 10' album... is it really possible? Do the tracks really exist? Can you give me any information about them? Is it really true that Agnetha is recording again? Steven Jones | | Two questions in one! To answer the first one, there never was an album, working title or otherwise, called 'Opus 10'. This is a myth that sprung from a 1981 Swedish newspaper report on the recording sessions for what became 'The Visitors' album. Check the "Recording FAQ" page on Carl Magnus Palm On The Web http://www.bahnhof.se/~cmpalm/boxfaq.html for the full story. There is a bootleg CD called ‘Opus 10’, which basically includes the “previously unreleased” tracks from the ‘Thank You For The Music’ box set plus a few other songs that have appeared on countless other bootlegs. You can see the cover and tracklisting for this bootleg at http://hea.iki.rssi.ru/~lapa/opus10.htm. To answer the second question, reports of Agnetha “recording again” have appeared roughly every 6 months for the past year or so. There are those “in the know” that say that the reports are true, and some reports even suggest that a single and/or album will be released later in 2001. However, there’s been nothing officially confirmed, and personally, I’ll believe it when I see it ;-) |
| | |
| My question is about one of Agnetha´s songs. The official Agnetha homepage says that ‘P&B’ was written by her. But I’m not sure about that. Maybe you know it? Harry Ehler | | ‘P & B’ was written by Gunnar Svensson and Hans Alfredson. The song was recorded for the soundtrack of the Swedish film ‘P&B’, and released on the B-side of Agnetha’s single ‘It’s So Nice To Be Rich’ (also featured in the film) in 1983. Both songs were produced by ABBA bassist Rutger Gunnarsson. While ‘It’s So Nice To Be Rich’ has been featured on the Agnetha compilation CDs ‘My Love My Life’ and ‘That’s Me – The Greatest Hits’, ‘P&B’ has never been released officially on CD. I don’t know if the film has been released on video. |

| Where can I find the song word for the songs on ‘ABBA GOLD’ '99? Chris Philips | | There’s countless websites with the lyrics to ABBA’s songs, including the official site at www.abbasite.com, and the popular Lovelight – The ABBA Lyrics Page (http://www.lovelight.dk/) Many other sites can be found in the “links” section of www.abbaworld.net. It has been reported that ‘ABBA GOLD’ will be re-released later in 2001, with the booklet updated to include the song lyrics. |

| I was wondering if you knew an address to write to any of the members of ABBA, only I can't find an address on any of the websites. Thanks, Sian | | Unfortunately, I do not know the private contact details of the ABBA members, and even if I did I would be loath to pass them on. |

1. What is the official title of the Spanish version of ABBA's Dancing Queen? On the album ‘Gracias Por La Música’ it is named ‘Reina Danzante’ on the album ‘ABBA ORO’ (Polydor 314 519 955-2) the name is ‘La Reina Del Baile’. Which name is the correct one? 2. Is there any date in 1994, all four members of Abba came together again for a radio/TV interview (especially in Great Britain)? I hope you are able to help me! Jens Mangelsdorf | | Two questions for the price of one! To answer the first question, on ‘Gracias…’ ‘Dancing Queen’ was indeed titled ‘Reina Danzante’ (I don’t know Spanish, but I guess it’s a direct translation of the title), while on ‘ABBA Oro’ it was retitled ‘La Reina Del Baile’ (The Queen of the Ball perhaps?). I have no idea why the title was changed on ‘ABBA Oro’, but I have seen a Spanish LP from 1978 where it was also titled ‘La Reina…’. Possibly it’s a more “correct” translation. Regarding the second question, no, there is no date to my knowledge of all four ABBA members coming together for an interview. Around that time Benny, Björn and Frida were together to receive awards for sales of ‘ABBA Gold’, but I’m unaware of any interviews that they may have done together. Aside from her 1996 authorised book, and answering questions for Carl Magnus Palm’s book ‘ABBA – The Complete Recording Sessions’, Agnetha has not given an interview since promoting her ‘I Stand Alone’ album in 1988. While the other three were interviewed for the 1999 documentary ‘The Winner Takes It All – The ABBA Story’, Agnetha declined and instead read excerpts from her book ‘As I Am’, which were played over silent footage of her taking a walk. |

| I just have one question regarding the names of Agnetha's and Bjorn's son and daughter. I've read on other sites that their names are Peter Christian and Elin Linda, however, your site lists their names as Christian Peter and Linda Elin. I was just wondering which is correct. Dani | | I believe that their correct names are Linda Elin and Peter Christian (which has now been corrected on my site www.abbaworld.net). |
| | |
| I was wondering if you will be able to answer a question for me. From the song ‘The Piper’, what do the words "Sub Luna Saltamus" mean. Trent Turner | | It’s Latin and roughly translates as “dance beneath the moon”, a repeated refrain from the chorus of the song. |

| I understand ABBA performed in Sweden last year at a special one-off concert. Can you tell me if a video was made of that performance?? Thanks, Des Schollum | | I assume that you’re talking about the members of ABBA singing ‘Med en enkel tulipen’ (With a simple tulip) at Görel Hanser’s 50th birthday party in Stockholm in June 1999. It has been said that the performance was videotaped, possibly by Görel’s husband, photographer Anders Hanser, but if it was it would have been for private use only and it’s unlikely that we fans will ever get to see it. |
| | |
| Do you now how I can get the film ‘ABBA - The Movie’. I have been looking everywhere. Please help me... Hälsning, Camilla Nyström Gauffin | | Unfortunately, ‘ABBA – The Movie’ is currently unavailable to buy on video, though Universal have plans to re-release it on DVD and VHS possibly in 2002. This re-release may also see the film having a limited run in cinemas. |
| | |
| Can you please tell me the ages of the ABBA members? Thank you, David Rosevear | | Björn is the oldest at 56 (born 25 April 1945), next is Frida at 55 (15 November 1945), Benny at 54 (born 16 December 1946) and Agnetha is "the young one, you know" at 51 (born 5 April 1950). |

| I just wanted to know if ‘Mamma Mia’ is coming to Perth, Western Australia. Emma | | At this stage, there are no plans to take ‘Mamma Mia!’ to Perth. There has been talk of the musical moving to the Lyric Theatre at Star City Casino in Sydney when the Melbourne run has finished, but no plans for any other Australian cities have been announced. |

| I’m a big Agnetha fan and I want to know her manager during her solo-projects from 1983 - 1987. And the second question is: Agnetha has her own firm called Agnetha Fältskog Production (AFP). What makes this firm? Thanks and best regards Ute Heil | | I presume that Stig Anderson was still nominally her manager, at least until her contract with Polar Music International expired after her 1985 album ‘Eyes of a Woman’ – he is credited as “album coordinator” on the sleeve of ‘Eyes…’. Since ABBA’s break-up I believe that her financial manager Staffan Lindé has also acted as her manager. The only output that I’m aware of from Agnetha Fältskog Produktion AB has been Agnetha’s own albums ‘Kom följ med i vår karusell’ with her son Christian and ‘I Stand Alone’, and several singles from those albums, all released through WEA in 1987/88. Allegedly ‘Eyes of a Woman’ was also supposed to be released under the AFP banner. I believe that these days AFP basically looks after Agnetha's investments and handles her royality payments. |

| When was ABBA’s first album to be released (what year)? I have an ABBA album and I think it could be the very first one to be released as the B’s in ABBA are the right way around as all the other albums have the B’s back to back, I heard it was a printing error so they left it like that, is this true? Also, would it be a collectors item and is it worth anything? Kristina Stacey | | No, it was not a printing error. ABBA’s first album was ‘Ring Ring’, released in 1973 under the group name Björn & Benny, Agnetha & Frida, and was later re-released with the name ABBA on the cover. ‘Waterloo’ was the first album released with the name ABBA in 1974, and this was followed in 1975 by the album ‘ABBA’. The famous ABBA logo with the two Bs facing each other was officially introduced on 1 July 1976, and first appeared on the ‘Dancing Queen’ single released in August that year (and all subsequent releases). So all previous albums and singles did not have the ABBA logo, though on CD reissue, a version of the ABBA logo (not in the original News Gothic Bold font) has been added to those first three albums. I’m not sure which album you might have, but I’m assuming that since you have an Australian address, it’s an Australian pressing. All the albums sold in huge quantities During the ABBAmania boom of 1975 – 1977 – for example, the ‘ABBA’ album sold something like 800,000 copies. All are pretty common in second hand record shops and record fairs, and I often see them for between A$5 and A$10. The only “collectors” value is the 1975 Australian pressing of ‘Ring Ring’ which has a unique cover, and the 1975 compilation ‘The Best Of ABBA’, only released in Australia and New Zealand, but still these can be found for no more than A$10. |

| G-Day. My name is Toni and I used to be a big fan of ABBA’s. I saw one of their clips last night and wanted to know what ever happened to ABBA. Are they still singing as a group if so please let me know about ABBA and what are they doing now and have they got the last CD out? Toni | | ABBA stopped recording together in 1982. Their last full album was ‘The Visitors’ in 1981, and this was in fact the first ABBA CD released (in fact, one of the first commercially available CDs ever released). The last album released while they were still together was the compilation ‘ABBA – The Singles – The First Ten Years’ in 1982. Since then both Agnetha and Frida released solo albums until they both retired from the music business in the mid to late 1980s. Frida briefly returned to the music scene with a Swedish album in 1996. Benny and Björn have written musicals (‘Chess’ and ‘Kristina från Duvemåla’), and Benny has also released solo albums of Swedish folk music. These days Agnetha lives a “reclusive” life, though rumours continue to circulate that she’s planning a musical comeback. Frida has been heavily involved in ecological causes, but has also retired from public life, especially since the death of her husband in 1999. Björn has been heavily involved in the musical ‘Mamma Mia!’, which uses 22 ABBA songs and opens in Melbourne on 9 June. Benny has some involvement with ‘Mamma Mia!’, and is also said to be recording another album of folk music for release later in 2001. Despite outrageous monetary offers for a reunion, it is unlikely that ABBA will record or perform in public again, though they have occasionally sung together at private parties over the past few years. You can find many sites with fuller biographical details in the “links” section of www.abbaworld.net. |

| Solo tengo un asunto, quiero comunicarme con los miembros de ABBA, mi nombre es Juan, gracias. | | I think the question here is “how can I communicate with the members of ABBA?” A common question, and the answer is I don’t know. I don’t have their private contact details, and even if I did, it wouldn’t be right for me to give them out. |

| Hiya. I have the book ‘Abba Gold’, but was wondering whether the book ‘More Abba Gold’ is available in Australia or if you can buy it on line. Regards Fred. | | The ‘More ABBA Gold’ music folio was indeed released in Australia, but I’m not sure if it’s still available. I haven’t seen it in any shops for quite a while. Try Music Room (http://www.musicroom.com/) – they have it listed for sale, as well as ‘Pure ABBA Gold’, a combination of both ‘ABBA Gold’ and ‘More ABBA Gold’. The ABBF Record Service (http://www1.tip.nl/~t097528/) also has the ‘More ABBA Gold’ folio listed for sale. |

| I’m looking to buy ‘ABBA The Movie’. I want to know where in the world I can do it. I live in Chicago USA. Thank you, Mahoma G Cruz | | This is currently the most popular ABBA-related question. ‘The Movie’ has never been released on video in the USA, though apparently a dubbed version has been available from some dealers. It’s currently officially unavailable anywhere in the world, though Universal has plans to re-release it on DVD and VHS, probably during 2002. |

| I’m looking for information and maybe you can help me. How do I find out how much ABBA’s autograph is worth? Thanks, Kim L. :) | | That’s a very tricky question. The short answer is “they’re worth whatever someone will pay for them”. I’ve recently seen ABBA autographs listed on auction sites like eBay (www.ebay.com) for anything between US$50 and US$800. It also depends on what’s been signed, and whether or not all four have signed. But lately the market’s been flooded with what look like forged autographs, plus one trader who seems to have gotten hundreds of albums signed by Björn, Benny and Frida at the premiere of ‘Mamma Mia!’ in Toronto in May 2000. Some single autographs have been listed for as low as US$15. In my own personal experience, my first set of ABBA autographs set me back $100 (Australian) around 1984/85, while at an auction I went to some years ago a full set sold for A$900. So it’s hard to put a definitive value on ABBA’s autographs, but I’d estimate at something in the low hundreds (US dollars). |

| I’d like to know if there ever was a recorded demo version of ABBA’s ‘Turn of the Tide’ written by Agnetha, and if an ABBA annual from 1976 and 1977 exists. Do you happen to know where to get the songbooks (or copies of the sheet music) to ABBA’s original albums ‘ABBA’, ‘The Folio’ ‘Voulez-Vous’ and the ‘Super Trouper Music Book’ which includes the sheet music to ‘Elaine’? Many regards, Toby Strebel | | Three completely different questions here (you sneak ;-) )! To answer the first one, to the best of my knowledge, there was never any recording, demo or otherwise, of ‘Turn Of The Tide’, which was apparently written by Agnetha, with lyrics by Björn, as a possible inclusion in ABBA’s 1979 tour. (refer page 93 of ‘ABBA – The Complete Recording Sessions’ by Carl Magnus Palm for more). In fact, there are those who suspect that ‘Turn Of The Tide’ may have just been an alternate title/lyric for ‘I’m Still Alive’, which was performed as an Agnetha solo number on that tour. Second question: The first ‘ABBA Annual’ was dated 1978, but actually published in late 1977. Incidentally, the first two ‘ABBA Annuals’ (1978 and 1979) were also published under the title ‘ABBA Gift Book’. Third question: Those original sheet music folios have been out of print for many years. ‘Compilation’ books such as ‘ABBA Gold’, ‘More ABBA Gold’, ‘The Very Best Of ABBA’ and many others have been released in recent years. To find those original books, I’d suggest an auction site such as eBay (www.ebay.com), Yahoo! Auctions (http://auctions.yahoo.com/), Amazon.com, or the many other auction sites around. |

| I found by chance an old record of ABBA, ‘One Of Us’ from ‘The Visitors’. The cover shows the four of them, standing in a room of a grand mansion or castle, with a lot of paintings on the wall. So the question is : do you know the references (title or author) of the Angel in the middle of the room ??? I crushed on it and I desperately look forward some information. Yours faithfully, Matthieu Chaimbault | | The painting is entitled ‘Eros’ and was painted by Julius Kronberg, a Swedish painter who lived 1850 – 1921. The photograph was taken at Kronbergs ateljé (studio), which is located in Skansen, a large open-air museum in a parkland setting in Stockholm. An almost identical photograph to the one on that single was used on the cover of ‘The Visitors’ album, while the back cover of the album showed a close-up detail of other paintings, including a smaller version of ‘Eros’. Kronberg’s studio is a popular place of pilgrimage for ABBA fans visiting Stockholm, and I myself visited it in March 1999. (you can see a picture of that visit at http://www.geocities.com/TheTropics/Cove/5102/ images/eros.jpg). |
