The Secret and The Law Of Attraction

I've been on a quest of personal growth and I suppose a path of some guidance for the last few years, but in October I was introduced to a movie called, "The Secret" at a seminar. To say my socks were knocked off would be kind of the understatement of the year. What the movie says is that due to the Law of Attraction, whatever anyone thinks about most is what is drawn to them, and the more passionate that you feel expedites the process whether that emotional energy is good or bad.

Now the Law of Attraction is not really a new concept and has been written about in various ways for centuries. Variations of its message even appear in the Bible even if the words "Law of Attraction" never themselves appear. Even famous books like Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich" are based on the concepts of the Law of Attraction. Rhonda Byrne, the film's creator and producer, presents the Law of Attraction as the great secret of life that's been hidden away from the public at large for centuries only to now have that secret exposed.

The premise of the concept is that at a particularly low point in Rhonda's life, one of her daughters introduces her to a book by Wallace D. Waddles entitled "The Science of Getting Rich" which then sparks a quest to learn more about the Secret only to discover many of the most famous names in history knew this secret and used it to manifest their destinies without sharing that knowledge with the rest of the world. Rhonda then makes it her mission to seek out and find people alive today who know the secret and have them teach it in her film and that's just the introduction to the film.

Well none of the teachers featured in the movie have "kept" the secret to themselves, many of which teach self-help courses designed around the application of The Law Of Attraction and weren't keeping their processes hidden from the public by any means. If anything, Rhonda's movie isn't truly an unveiling of a secret hidden completely from the public, but rather a more like grabbing a bullhorn and shouting from the rooftops to point out the Law of Attraction to the masses who have otherwise not known about nor explored the Law of Attraction. Rhonda at least deserves a lot of credit for making the Law of Attraction accessible and through the use of expert interviews and stunning visuals makes the Law of Attraction more digestible to modern generations who might find the language of Napoleon Hill and Wallace D. Wattles a bit much to follow considering how long ago those books were written. Their books were written for the turn of the century era but the last century not this one.

Now Rhonda's approach to making "The Secret" was to seek out the teachers for her program by using the "The Secret" and one of the highlight stories is that one of her big wish list mentors she wanted for the film was Bob Proctor and even though they didn't have him scheduled and were having trouble getting him. Rhonda and her crew happened to be in Aspen, Colorado filming a few other mentors and somehow Bob Proctor was mentioned and some of the interviewed mentors knew him and also though Bob should be a part of the movie and began making calls to locate Bob to talk to him. And as if the universe was bending over backwards to get this film made, it turns out that Bob Proctor, was at that very moment, in Aspen, Colorado, and not only that, but at the hotel across the street. So once the calls were made that got through to Bob, he simply crossed the street and was filmed and seems to have almost an emcee like role in the film in that his discussions feature prominently throughout the entire film where some other mentors in the movie make just a single brief appearance or possibly two throughout the entire movie. It was meant to be that Bob Proctor would be in "The Secret."

The film has distinct sections covering things like what is the Law of Attraction, and how to use it, and then how to use it in specific areas of your life, like relationships, health, and the ever so popular arena of money. After all, if you're going to make an effort to attract something it might as well be money. While the film really serves to be more of an introduction to the concept of the Law of Attraction, it kind of generalises the specifics of how to apply it fully, but have no fear, there's loads of avenues on how to increase the practicality of applying the secret to your own life. Everything from starting small, like focusing on manifesting a cup of coffee, to a prime parking spot, to checks in the mail is showcased to case examples of manifesting a $100,000 idea, a woman curing herself of cancer without medical treatment, and even a man who crashed a plane and was on complete life support as well as being told he was going to be a vegetable for the rest of his life, who then applied the Law of Attraction into meeting his goal of being able to walk out of the hospital on his own two feet by Christmas.

In my own life since seeing The Secret, one of the more notable examples is waking up for work and realising the amount of time to drive to work exceeded the amount of time I had to be there on time. Now one would normally have thoughts of not wanting to be late and according to the movie the universe finds way to bend over backwards to find ways to create ways to be late. So I focused my thoughts on open roads and green lights and it seemed like cars were just going out of their way to get out of my way, such as those in front of me suddenly turning on turn signals and exiting my lane at the mere thought that I would like that person to turn out of my path. Cars were literally parting a gap for me on the highway and not a single red light was there to slow me down. And strangely enough I even managed to make it to work early, when for all intents and purposes that shouldn't have been possible. So I'm a believer, now I just need to manifest that million dollar check.

Probably one of the more innovative things about "The Secret" is that the movie is available to watch online. By visiting the website, <http://www.thesecret.tv/>www.thesecret.tv, there is an opportunity to purchase a streamed pay-per-view version of the movie as well as an opportunity to purchase a DVD of the movie. (One of the things you can do is pay to see the movie online once and if you decide you want to purchase a DVD, they will deduct the cost of the Pay-Per-View so you can watch it immediately, and get the DVD in the mail for the same price as just ordering the DVD alone.)

One of the things that hindered my writing about The Secret sooner is that due to some television contractual rights (as the film was co-produced with Australian television network Nine), the ability to purchase the DVD or even watch online if you live in Australia, New Zealand, or Papua New Guinea was not available. However, an agreement has been made and now the Secret is available world wide. If you haven't yet seen The Secret, it's worth checking it out. And whether you think the Law of Attraction is a load of crap or the most compelling information you learn about in your life, you owe it to yourself to see what is out there and give it a try to see what you can manifest for yourself. Who knows if you focus on private autograph session with your favorite ABBA member, you just might be able to manifest a truly golden opportunity for yourself.
