ABBA Gold has earlier also been released in VHS-format, but now it's also time for DVD. What is offered is 19 of the band's greatest hits, in restored condition when it comes to both sound and picture, a 25 minute long documentary and Dancing Queen in a version from 1992. The DVD-verion of ABBA Gold is released around the world this Friday August 29, a welcome addition for the millions of fans the band now has throughout the world. A previous video version already exists but now the 19 videos, or promo clips as they were called when they were made, can be viewed in the best possible condition. Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia, Take A Chance On Me, The Winner Takes It All, Money, Money, Money, Voulez-Vous and Knowing Me, Knowing You are a few of the 19 hits here presented in film form. Most of the films are made by Lasse Hallström who later continued and became a director of international caliber. In addition to the 19 promo clips, there's also extra material in the shape of the 25 minute long documentary ABBA - The History which was made in 1999 in connection with the 25th anniversary of the win with Waterloo in the Eurovision Song Contest in Brighton 1974. At the same time the musical Mamma Mia! premiered. Björn Ulvaeus and Michael B Tretow talk in interviews about ABBA's career and how it has continued even during the 90s. Even the version of the video for Dancing Queen which was made in 1992 has been included as additional material. Neither it nor ABBA - The History has not been released in the DVD-format previously. Furthermore, the DVD-edition contains a 12 page booklet with text by the ABBA-expert Carl Magnus Palm. A Swedish music historical document of the greatest dignity.
