ABBAMAIL at Fair Day 2007

Another ABBAMAIL gathering in Sydney - this time it was the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Fair Day in Victoria Park. It was a hot and sunny day and some 50,000 people packed the park to visit the stalls, watch the entertainment on the main stage, watch the dog show and much, much more. ABBAMAIL's Graeme Read & Grant Whittingham went along and were joined by some fellow Sydney (and one Canberra) ABBAMAIL list members. Afterwards we retired to the pub across the road for a well deserved Post-Fair-Day beveridge!

Broadway Shopping Centre

The shopping centre next to the park where Mardi Gras Fair Day is held.

Crossing into City Road

Two queens obscuring my supposedly goregous picture of the City Road sign. The park is on the corner of City Road and Parramatta Road/Broadway

The 1pm Gang

At 1pm we had James O'Brien, Grant Whittingham, Cotton Ward & myself. Mark Hannam had piked (like um, what else is new?) The rest were to arrive later on.

Some of the 50,000

About 50,000 visited Fair Day this year. As you can see, the weather was hot, hot, hot!

Shade, shade, shade!

Everyone was looking for shade to sit and relax. The sun was scorching all day.

I love this pic of James!

No, James isn't signing up for the Dog Show (see sign at back) - he actually just needed a little rest in some shade.

Portaloo...I was defeated you won the war...

A whole army of portaloos was at the back of the park - ready and waiting for action!

Pig Out Time!

Sam, James and the back of Fran's head as we all sat down to pig out and also get some shade.

Donna & Pat

Donna incognito in her sunnies. Patrick pigging out on a hot dog with the lot!

Graeme & the Police Fagmobile

Or is it "Herbie Goes To Fair Day"? Graeme couldn't resist getting a shot of this cuter than cute police car.

Ladies with an attitude...

Sydney ABBAMAIL stalwarts arrive - Donna Glas and the inimitable Fran Trew.

My city of Sydney

I had to take this shot to show the Fair Day's location against the gorgeous Sydney city backdrop.

Oh Pat, you've had too much!

Poor Patrick - ordered a hotdog with 50 toppings and then complained he had "a touch of the sun" and couldn't eat it all. Diddums!

Sexy Sam and Little Patty

Pat's friend Sam and Pat himself - dressed as an Aussie "bloke". Pat's from Tasmania so you'll have to excuse him!

People, Stalls & Sun

Hundreds of stalls were set up throughout the park promoting and selling all sorts of services and products.

Hey, how does this new camera work?

I guess I should be more careful with what buttons I push. "Operator Error" ;-)

Sam & Pat again

This was my first shot of Sam & Pat as they arrived. Pat looked a bit "spazz" so I took another one.
