1999, with the 25th Anniversary and all its attendant events has given fans (especially those of us old enough to remember "Ring Ring"! ) cause for much reflection.
For myself, the realisation that the music of the four members of ABBA, both collectively and individually, has enriched my life for a quarter of a century is almost too incredible to believe.

It might sound a bit goofy but I have often wondered how it might be to actually be you...
As a teenager I even envied you for your position. Being so close to Frida, Agnetha, Benny and Björn !!! I thought of it as a dream-like state.
But that was a long time ago and I am grown up now. I know that you had an important job and career - making everything happen behind the scenes for ABBA.
I am still very grateful that you helped me to obtain permission to interview Benny while in Minneapolis.
When I introduced myself- "I am the guy from Columbia University, New York City" - you said " Oh I remember your name..."
And I am sure it wasn't only because my name is a bit strange but rather that you are indeed doing your job right;- very professional, yet understanding that ABBA-fans are weird species...
Görel, you and ABBA's fans have one thing in common though - the love and faith we have in music and it's power to make this world a better place.

I have a memory about you when I hear or read your name somewhere and I would like to share it with you.
I am a 34 year old guy from Amsterdam and an ABBA Fan since somewhere around Dancing Queen.
I remember that we fans always had to wait 'ages' (at least it seemed to me) on the release of a new ABBA Album. In 1979 I somehow got the right address of the record company in Sweden and I wrote you a letter with some questions about release dates.
Within two weeks I got a reply! It was unbelievable to me that someone from the far ABBA-world even bothered to answer my letter. And it was so easy! Actually you just wrote down your answers next to my questions on my original letter and put my letter back in an envelope. After that time I wrote you several times and you always replied in the same friendly way, and you signed then with: "Kind regards, Görel".
I must admit that in the 80-ties I lost contact with ABBA and got interested in other music, my study, etc. It wasn't until 1994 that, due to the revival, I started to listen to ABBA's music again, though in a less extreme way of course.
Just lately I found these letters again somewhere in a box and after reading them with a smile on my face, I wondered if it was really ABBA's personal assistant who replied to me in person. Because when I realize now how many fans ABBA had at that time, it must have been almost impossible to answer all these letters in person.
Those letters gave me, as a teenager, the feeling that I really had made contact with this supergroup who were so far away in a place called Sweden.
I really would like to thank you for them. And again, I hope you'll have a great 50th birthday!

I was reading an article about the personal assistant to the Premier of New South Wales (Australia) who mentioned a colleague who said that Personal Assistants were the glue that holds everything together.
Thinking about it, I realised that Görel was like the glue holding things together in ABBA. You don't see glue, you don't notice glue, but by golly you do notice it if it's missing.
And that's how it is with Görel: you don't see her picture on the cover of any albums, in magazines, or doing interviews. But without Görel, ABBA would have fallen apart.
The public didn't see or notice her, but the members of ABBA and Stig all certainly did. I remember reading that even though the public didn't know who she was, ABBA did, and that was what mattered to her.
Someone who was capable, who got things done quietly and efficiently and didn't need to be fussed over or feted -- a healthy role model for some, methinks.

As a member of ABBAMAIL, the internet ABBA mailing list, I often read posts from people from all over the world that at some time in their life decide to make the trip to Sweden....in particular Stockholm.
ABBA the group, ceased to exist many years ago, and yet you still represent them to us, their loyal fans. It must seem odd to you to have so many people from around the world, landing on the doorstep at Mono Music, or the Polar studios all those years ago, and yet it seems that you do this so graciously and patiently.
For this, and all the many years of hard work you have put in to promote ABBA we say 'thank you'.
