Stockholm May 9th 1979 A B B A Enclosed please find a copy of ABBA's latest single release "DOES YOUR MOTHER KNOW" c/w "KISSES OF FIRE". This week it went from no 19 to no 4 in England (it sold over 250.000 copies the first week in England), straight in at no 18 in Holland and with very good indications in all territories where it is released so far. ABBA's new LP "VOULEZ-VOUS" went straight to no 1 in England (the sales in the first week was nearly 400.000 LP:s), in Sweden and in Denmark. It has already sold gold in Holland, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. It even went gold in Germany, in Australia and in New Zealand before it was released!! The reaction in Japan is over all expectations!! The LP is being released in the US and Canada on June 6th. We have just concluded our agreement for the release of the LP in Hungary, and they guarantee 80.000 LP:s to start with. We are also negotiating with the other countries in Eastern Europe. ABBA's first single from this LP "CHIQUITITA" is really a success also for Unicef and The Year of the Child. It has lately also received a gold record in Holland, in New Zealand (no. 1 in both countries) and in Australia. It has also been no 1 in Ireland, South-Africa, Belgium and very high on the charts in Israel. The Spanish recording by ABBA of this song is now really taking off in South America. Mr. Buddy McCluskey (the writer of the Spanish lyrics) reports from Argentina that this record is really breaking in all big cities in Argentina. For this reason they are opening up our film "ABBA - The Movie" again in this territory. End of May ABBA will be going down to Madrid to record two TV-programmes. One of them "Three Thousand Millions" will be shown all over Latin- and South America on June 3rd. In this programme ABBA will perform CHIQUITITA (in Spanish), FERNANDO, VOULEZ-VOUS and DOES YOUR MOTHER KNOW. They will also record another TV-programme for Spain called "Applause" where they will perform three number - CHIQUITITA (in Spanish of course), VOULEZ-VOUS and DOES YOUS MOTHER KNOW. Middle of May Stig Anderson will go over to Los Angeles and New York to discuss the up-coming tour, the opening of the movie in the US and the release of the LP in the US and Canada. All efforts will be put together to really make this ABBA's year in the US!! It is now decided ABBA will open their American, Canadian and European tour in Vancouver, Canada on September 15th. They will play the following cities in the US and Canada: Vancouver - Seattle - Portland - San Francisco - Fresno - Los Angeles - Salt Lake City - Denver - Kansas City - Minneapolis - Milwaukee - Chicago - Cleveland - Washington DC - New York, - Boston - Toronto - Montreal. The dates and places will be definitely confirmed during Stig's visit to the US. ABBA will continue their tour in Europe at the following places: October The ticket sales for England will start middle of June, and we understand already now that the interest is enormous to say the least!! At the end of April, ABBA recorded a one hour radio special for Radio 1, BBC, England presenting their new LP. This special can be acquired by contacting the producer Mr Paul Williams at Radio 1, BBC in London. We have started negotiation with Radio Sweden to record a TV-special during this tour, possibly called "ABBA International" to be shown at the beginning of 1980. Mote details will follow after the summer. LATEST NEWS FROM THE US: A phone call from Atlantic Records informs us that ABBA's single "DOES YOUR MOTHER KNOW" already is taking off very rapidly!!!
