Subscription changes? From time to time, existing subscribers to ABBAMAIL need to change their subscription. This could be because they have a new email address or it could be because they want to change from the digest version to the normal version (or vice versa). What to do:

The software that runs the ABBAMAIL Mailing List has 'filters' that block certain e-mails from getting through to the list. The main filter that you are likely to encounter is one that blocks e-mails sent in HTML from reaching the list. E-mails can be sent in two formats, although you probably don't know which format your e-mail program is using. Plain Text is simply that - everyday plain text with nothing fancy - no fancy colours, fonts, background, pictures, attachments etc. HTML format allows-mails to be sent that can include graphics, bold, italic, underlined, fancy and coloured fonts, coloured and patterned backgrounds etc. HTML emails weigh more than Plain Text e-mails. That is, they use more 'bytes' and therefore take longer to download at the receiver's end. A busy mailing list like ABBAMAIL already generates a lot of 'bytes' every day. ABBAMAILers may also get a lot of other e-mail from friends and relatives etc. The bigger the e-mails (that is, the more bytes per e-mail), the longer it takes ABBAMAILers to download them. This can also cost people more money if their phone calls to dial up their Internet Service Providers are timed. Or if they have a set limit of 'megabytes' they can download each month on their internet plan. For these reasons, we've set the list software up to reject everything except plain text e-mails. Plain Text is the quickest, slimmest, fastest way to send an e-mail. Find out how to change your e-mail program to PLAIN TEXT in a couple of the most popular email programs... Click on the Address book symbol in the main window (little book, next to send and receive). Click on the abbamail@listserv.whathelps.com address in your address book. There are several tabs here. Click on the one that says name. There's a little box, bottom left, check it to send mail using plain text only. This will now prompt you to change you mail to plain text, if you accidentally type it in HTML. IF YOU USE EUDORA

Click on the STYLED TEXT option.
