 at #34

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/top40/

Real Mid week result: #35 or $24:
who knows?

Mid week result = #35. Keep it up people but just remember for the second half of this week: DON'T BUY MORE THAN THREE COPIES IN ANY
ONE SHOP IN ONE TRANSACTION - ONLY THE FIRST THREE COPIES OF ANY SALE ARE COUNTED TOWARDS CHART PLACINGS!!

Check our Agnetha News Section to see first pics
of CD1 and CD2 in the UK!

Okay people, it is almost Monday- the day that
your week of purchasing power begins in store!
Agnetha's single will be available in the U.K.
in shops from tomorrow (as I write this)
Monday June 14, 2004.
And if you are there for ABBAFEST, you should
be able to raid the Brighton record shops
and clear them out of Agnetha's single. All
those lovely extra copies for your lovely family,
relatives and friends of course!

There's a buzz out there in ABBA fandom about our campaign so let's keep that buzz happening
throughout next week. Please use our Guestbook
(link on this page above) to let us know what's
happening, what you've done, news on the single's progress and so on and so forth!!!

PRE-ORDER FROM YOUR LOCAL SHOPS!
Just read your page about the new Agnetha single. Great action! But if it works the same in the UK as it does in The Netherlands, you should urge people to order the single
before it is released.

Order at least one copy from the stores you know. They might ask for your name and number to be able to give you a call when the single has arrived.

Most likely, most record stores don't have the new Agnetha release instore on the day it is released. But, if there are advance orders they will have it instore on the day of release. And if they think like I do, they order 1 or 2 copies more, just to be on the safe side in case someone else asks aboout it

Most charts in The Netherlands are made up of sales sold at the 'beginning of the chain' by looking at the number of singles sold from headquarters to the store. The more I order for the store from headquarters, the better it is for the single's chart success.

Thanks to ABBAMAIler Lex Corbach for this information

ARE YOU A FOREIGNER? ;-)
HOW CAN YOU HELP AGNETHA IN BRITAIN?
DO YOU KNOW ANY BRITISH ABBA FANS
FROM THE INTERNET, ABBA FORUMS,
MAILING LISTS ETC? PEN-PALS?
Well, ask them to buy you copies from UK chart shops. Send them the money in advance - don't make enemies from friends which can happen very quickly when money is involved!
My Mother always said "neither a borrower nor a lender be" and I think that's good advice for ABBA fans and the net.

Terry Wogan is playing When You Walk In The Room
but not the rest of the BBC
Are you a British taxpayer?
Do you pay an annual licence fee to fund the BBC?
If so, write to the BBC and tell them you're not happy that Agnetha's fantastic new single isn't being supported by them

SPREAD THE WORD:
Make sure you plug this campaign on every
other ABBA forum, web site, mailing list you
 can think of.
More campaigners = more sales!

* Twice the chance!
Once again, Agnetha's single will be released in the UK on 2 separate CD singles - Part 1 and Part 2 - with different mixes. This doubles your chance to help Agnetha make maximum impact on the UK Charts!

* Sales from downloads of Agnetha's songs (e.g. MSN)
do not count towards the charts

* Virgin Megastores - don't order on-line!!!
"All items purchased within our High Street stores certainly contribute towards chart positions. Regrettably, online sales aren't registered with the UK Chart Company at the present time.
Kind regards, Customer Services Virgin Megastores"

* If you order from Amazon.co.uk, only sales sent to British addresses are counted towards the chart. So if you don't live in the UK, your purchase of Agnetha's single & album doesn't count!

* A list of Australian chart stores is located here

Agnetha / When You Walk In The Room

She might be the Mad Woman of Ekero(TM) but she's OUR mad woman! We love her to bits
and
she needs our help!

Her second single WHEN YOU WALK IN THE ROOM is about to be released in the UK and across Europe.

Agnetha's album has been a huge hit and Sweden and has caused a few ripples on charts in various European countries. But, as you know, there's only one market that counts in this part of the world - the United Kingdom. And "My Colouring Book" has stiffed like a corpse on C.S.I. in that territory.

There's one final hope to stop the death and burial of Agnetha's first album in 17 years: MAKING HER NEW SINGLE A TOP 10 HIT IN THE U.K.

We got IF I THOUGHT YOU'D EVER CHANGE YOUR MIND to No. #11 in the U.K. charts thanks to YOUR WORK AND YOUR DEDICATION IN SUPPORTING ABBAMAIL'S "MAXIMUM IMPACT" CAMPAIGN.

WE HAD NO HELP FROM AGNETHA, WARNER MUSIC AND, APART FROM TERRY WOGAN(!), NO HELP FROM RADIO. PEOPLE, WE DID IT BEFORE AND WE CAN DO IT AGAIN!

Agnetha's TV special to promote the album isn't going to make the waves needed to get this single and album happening. She won't do any more promotion apart from a few newspaper phone interviews where she basically says nothing. So what to do?

Well, it is up to you, her fans. Most of you are intelligent adults with some discretionary spending power. Use that spending power wisely to get Agnetha on the charts in a big way!

Here are the details for the U.K. release:

RELEASE DATE: 14 June 2004

FORMATS: CD1 and CD2

PRICES: BETWEEN £1.99 AND £3.99 PER SINGLE (DEPENDING ON THE RETAILER)

You'll have the standard CD1 single and then CD2 full of fabulous remixes.

Here is a possible track list for the singles (exact track list is not confirmed for the UK as yet):

CD One:
1. When You Walk In The Room - Original Version
2. When You Walk In The Room - Radio Remix

CD Two:
1. When You Walk In The Room - Original Version
2. When You Walk In The Room - Soundfactory Radio Edit
3. When You Walk In The Room - Soundfactory Club Anthem
4. When You Walk In The Room - Soundfactory Dub Instrumental
5. When You Walk In The Room - Almighty Mix
6. When You Walk In The Room - Almighty Radio Edit
7. When You Walk In The Room - Almighty Dub
8. When You Walk In The Room - CD-Rom Video

And something we have as a major positive for this campaign: WHEN YOU WALK IN THE ROOM is radio friendly! Isn't that a blast! It appeals to more formats, more stations! This song is very commercial. So let's capitalise on it!

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS PEOPLE?

Now look, we know the Mad Woman(TM) is her own worst enemy. She has a PhD in shooting herself in the foot spectacularly. But people - DEAL WITH IT! We have to take a deep breath, count to 10 and get the f*** over it. She's out of the picture, but we're not.

Warner Music (poor bastards) are also over it. They set up a mega-promotional campaign for Agnetha and she goes and has a "mad woman moment" at the 11th hour and pulls out of everything. Derrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

But we're still here!

MY COLOURING BOOK is a bloody good album. And it is the first album Agnetha has recorded since the 80s! It deserves to be heard. It deserves to be a success. Goddammit, it deserves to be a HIT!!!

The public will LOVE this album - they just don't know it yet. It's our job to give them a little helping hand to "find it". We know what's good for them - they just need to be "educated" by hearing a fabulous single from the album on their local radio station ;-)

Let's not suffer the indignity of seeing MY COLOURING BOOK in the bargain bin at the local supermarket. Not without putting up a bloody good fight!

If you want to be part of that fight then read on people, read on.............

1. THE FIRST WEEK OF RELEASE OF ANY NEW SINGLE IS THE ABSOLUTE KEY TO SUCCESS

2. Artists generally get one week to make an impact with their singles - that is why most of the hype, publicity and so on occurs BEFORE the song is actually available in the shops. The demand must be created so that, from Day 1 of release, copies are sold

3. Buying a copy of Agnetha's single from a shop/source that is not surveyed for the charts isn't going to help Agnetha one little bit. She won't see a cent of your hard earned money if the single only sells a few thousand copies via the net and in non-chart stores - it will all be consumed by the record company to cover their costs/losses. Yes, you may have already ordered on-line from Skivhugget etc. but that doesn't mean a damn thing. I'm sorry but its true

4. Once a record is on the charts at a reasonable position, it can generate a life of its own - it creates further interest from the public and further demand. It becomes its own best weapon for success. And When You Walk In The Room is a bloody good song! It is "up" and "poppy" - it could be just what is needed to get MY COLOURING BOOK back on the charts and give it the success it deserves!

5. We've gotta do it quickly. We don't have that "first single in 17 years" thing happening this time. It has to live or die on the song itself and initial sales to make an impact.

6. If this single dies, then album will be well and truly over in the UK and most other major territories. And the album is THE THING! That's why we're doing this - to breathe new life into MY COLOURING BOOK.

7. The single will be a success in Sweden naturally - and maybe a few other places. But not where it counts to be noticed on the world stage. When is the last time the world stood up and got excited about a single or album hitting #1 in Belgium (for example)??? It really is a case of "London or bust"!

HERE'S HOW YOU CAN HELP AGNETHA!

1. FIND OUT WHICH SHOPS / OUTLETS ARE CURRENTLY SURVEYED FOR THE CHART IN YOUR COUNTRY

2. AVOID NON-CHART SHOPS / OUTLETS LIKE THE PLAGUE - DON'T SPEND A CENT ON AGNETHA PRODUCT THERE

3. REMEMBER, THE UK CHARTS HAVE A BIG IMPACT ON THE REST OF EUROPE AND AN IMPACT ON AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND AND PARTS OF ASIA, IF AGNETHA GOES TOP TEN IN THE UK, THE NEWSPAPERS WILL REPORT IT AND IT WILL BE PICKED UP BY WIRE SERVICES AROUND THE WORLD.

4. BUY THE SINGLE IN THE FIRST THREE DAYS OF RELEASE - THIS IS PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT IN THE UK WHERE THEY HAVE A MID-WEEK CHART. IF AGNETHA'S SINGLE HAS SOLD WELL IN THE FIRST THREE DAYS IN THE UK, IT WILL GET TALKED ABOUT, IT WILL BE REPORTED BY MEDIA AND IT WILL INFLUENCE MORE RADIO STATIONS TO PLAY IT

5. YOU CAN BUY MORE THAN ONE COPY AT DIFFERENT SHOPS FOR YOUR FAMILY, RELATIVES, FRIENDS, FELLOW ABBA FANS ETC.  DON'T GO INTO ONE SHOP AND BUY TEN COPIES, SPREAD THE SALES AROUND BETWEEN CHART STORES. IT WORKS BETTER AND YOU WOULDN'T WANT ANYONE TO ACCUSE YOU OF TRYING TO RIG THE CHART. BECAUSE YOU WOULDN'T EVER CONSIDER DOING THAT - WHAT YOU'RE DOING IS BUYING EXTRA COPIES FOR YOUR FAMILY, RELATIVES, FRIENDS, FELLOW ABBA FANS ETC. YOU LOVE AGNETHA AND HER MUSIC AND YOU WANT TO SPREAD THE MUSIC AROUND. THE SINGLES ARE PERFECT GIFTS. REMEMBER, YOU'RE NOT DOING ANYTHING WRONG!

6. DON'T ASK PEOPLE IN SHOPS ABOUT ABBA PRODUCT WHEN YOU ARE IN BUYING AGNETHA'S SINGLE - ABBA STUFF SELLS BY ITSELF - KEEP THE FOCUS ON AGNETHA, AGNETHA, AGNETHA. AND DON'T APPEAR LIKE A PSYCHO-FAN WHEN YOU TALK TO RECORD SHOP STAFF (I.E. DON'T SAY "OH I'M THE BIGGEST ABBA FAN IN THE WORLD, I HAVE ALL THEIR CDS"). YOU SHOULD SEEM LIKE AN EVERYDAY MEMBER OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

7. IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY, CONTACT RADIO STATIONS ABOUT AGNETHA: IF THEY'RE NOT PLAYING THE SINGLE, ASK THEM WHEN WILL YOU START PLAYING IT?, WHY AREN'T YOU PLAYING IT? AGAIN, DON'T SOUND LIKE A PSYCHO FAN - KEEP YOUR QUESTIONS AND VOICE CALM AND NORMAL.

8. USE FEEDBACK FORMS, E-MAIL ADDRESSES AND SURVEYS ON RADIO STATION & TV STATION WEB SITES TO TELL THEM YOU WANT TO HEAR AGNETHA'S NEW SINGLE (MAKE SURE YOU USE THE NAME - WHEN YOU WALK IN THE ROOM - SO IT DOESN'T GET MIXED UP WITH THE PREVIOUS SINGLE), YOU WANT TO KNOW IF THERE'S A VIDEO FOR AGNETHA'S NEW SINGLE. AND IF AGNETHA IS MENTIONED (POSITIVELY) IN NEWSPAPERS & MAGAZINES, WRITE IN AND GIVE THEM POSITIVE FEEDBACK - THANK THEM FOR RUNNING THE STORY. WRITE SHORT AND FUN CONTRIBUTIONS TO "LETTERS TO THE EDITOR" PAGES ABOUT HOW WONDERFUL THE SONG IS AND HOW GREAT IT IS TO HEAR AGNETHA SINGING AGAIN BLAH, BLAH, BLAH...

9. SOME RADIO STATIONS HAVE REQUEST PROGRAMS - IF THEY DO AND YOU KNOW IT, RING THESE PROGRAMS AND REQUEST THAT AGNETHA'S SINGLE IS PLAYED - ACT "SURPRISED" IF THEY SAY IT ISN'T ON THEIR PLAYLIST - KEEPING YOUR VOICE CALM AND REASONABLE

10. THE SECOND WAVE: IT WORKED LAST TIME. AFTER THE MID-WEEK CHART HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED, GET OUT THERE AND BUY MORE COPIES FOR YOUR FAMILY, RELATIVES, FRIENDS, FELLOW ABBA FANS ETC AS GIFTS. IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE WEEK TO MAKE SURE THE SINGLE RETAINS OR IMPROVES ON ITS MID-WEEK POSITION.

When we work together - all doing the same effective steps - we can make it happen people!

REMEMBER - YOUR FÄLTSKOG NEEDS YOU!
