Frida in Munich - Erik Menkens SMS Report

ABBAMAILer Erik Menkens has been sending me text messages all day reporting live from Munich.  So here are the messages. Of course Erik sent the text in German, so the somewhat clumsy expressions come from me.

Monday, 6.9.2004

12:09 We are sitting in Frida's hotel and are waiting for her.

13:07 Frida just got back from shopping, WHILE I WAS AT THE LOO!! (This sounds so Adrian Mole, which I'm currently reading)

13:30 I got an autograph from Frida!

13:47 (after begging Erik if I can have the autograph, because he already has one from Stuttgart) Erik's answer: You can have the first autograph (from Stuttgart) without the dedication. Will you let ABBAMAIL know of my adventures?

14:40 I arrived before Frida to the studio and I saw her a second time and I filmed the whole thing. ABBAMAILer Lex Corbach, a friend of Lex and Australian ABBAMAILer Matti Crocker are there as well.

14:51 (after asking Erik if he could pester Frida and get me an autograph dedicated to me) I'll do my best!

15:35 We are now in the studio watching the rehearsals. We saw Frida's costume, which had to undergo a "lighting rehearsal" on stage. (without Frida it seems- Samia's note)

15:53 It looks like Frida will not be rehearsing, even though she is here and the show starts in 4 hours.

19:24 Frida sang twice during rehearsals, but it was all playback.

6:00 Frida disappeared after the show, only a few saw her after the show. She had to restart her song twice due to technical problems. During this compulsory break there was a shout: "sing live or go home"! ... Unbelievable!! In spite of it being playback the crowds went mad. The recording of the show took 31/2 hours, till after midnight.

Erik says that the fan who shouted out sing live or go home". I'm sure many who were in Roosendaal know this person. He is apparently called Thomas, German and speaks English with an American accent. Anyone who attended the Chinese restaurant lunch on the Sunday of the ABBF DAy weekend will probably know the guy I'm referring to. I don't think I need to say more, do I?
